April Showers bring…Snow!?

It’s mid April already and I’m sure, like me, you’re all anxiously awaiting warm weather’s return. Until then, come and visit us for a little Hawaiian Crunch, April’s feature cupcake. It is delicious. A favorite among the Crazy Cakers and most of our regulars. If you haven’t tried it yet, it is a moist pineapple cupcake topped with cream cheese buttercream and the most divine candied pretzels. It will remind you of the tropical Hawaiian vacay you’re craving, quite a delicious little escape!
In other news, we also have a brand new cupcake to add to our roster. It is currently nameless, but with your help we hope to have it’s moniker solidified by the end of the month. Head over to our facebook page and comment on the contest post to add yours. There will be a vote and the lucky person who submitts the best name will win a dozen mini cupcakes.
Perhaps I should let you know what this new cupcake is. It is a moist banana cupcake with butterscotch buttercream.

Happy New Year, Happy Valentine’s Day

Well, we missed all of January so we’re just moving right along!
This month our feature cupcakes are Pink Velvet, a delicious white chocolate cupcake with cream cheese buttercream and Cinnfull, a marbled cinnamon and vanilla cake topped with cinnamon buttercream.
We’re also gearing up for Valentine’s Day. This year we’ve got some new sweets to add to our list. We’ve been working really hard around here making macaron magic, and we now have lovely french macarons available for special order. We will have some available on Valentine’s Day in the shop, but to avoid disappointment please place your pre-orders.
French Macaron flavors are as follows.
Chocolate- A delicate chocolate shell filled with a luxurious dark chocolate ganache
Raspberry- Just that pure and simple. A raspberry shell filled with raspberry confiture. (Or as we Southern Albertans call it…jam, but confiture sounds so much more refined!)
AND just for Valentine’s Day we have Rose and Champagne macarons. Just a hint of rose in the shell and filled with a delightful champagne swiss buttercream.
There are lots of other in house features, so come in and check them out!

Because Valentine’s Day is our busiest day of the year, we strongly recommend pre-ordering your goodies to avoid disappointment. The above image is one of our special Valentine cakes also available for pre-order. We also have Conversation Heart cakes available for order.

14 Days and Counting

Well, the Christmas season seems to have sneaked up on me and I am Not in the least bit ready!  We keep chugging along in the shop and trying to keep ahead of the Christmas treats.  If you have any requests, please call them in and we will do our best to fullfil your wishes! No, we can’t give you a million dollars, or a new ferrari, but we can, as always, offer you some deliicious baking! The features this month are our Southern Charm red Velevet cupcake and a Christmas favorite, the Gingerbread Cupcake.

Movember!!!

Yes, it’s Movember and we have the cutest, no, that doesn’t work! The most handsome stache you’ve ever seen!!  As our inspiration, we took one of the sexiest moustaches ever and dubbed it….drum roll please…The BURT REYNOLDS!!!!  Just like Burt Reynolds, our Burt is lightly spiced (although Sally Fields would probably have a different take on his spiciness )  rum syrup infused cupcake, smothered with a butterscotch buttercream!

Aaron Collier, our Crazy Cake mobro, has shaved himself clean to raise awareness and funds for Movember. Proceeds from our Burt will go to his campaign.  Check put his blog @ mobro.co/aaroncollier and watch the stache sprout!

Along with Burt Reynolds we have our London Fog Cupcake back.  Earl Grey tea added to our delicious vanilla cupcake creates this lovely treat topped with and earl grey buttercream.

November will be another busy month.  On the 10th, we will be decorating our Christmas tree in support of the Chinnok Regional Hospital Foundation.  Viewing times are accessible on their website: crhfoundation.ca

MMMM Pumpkins!

We are featuring two cupcake flavors this month. The first - It’s the Great Pumpkin, but not Charlie Brown’s great pumpkin!  Our’s is in the form of a scrumptious pumpkin cake, covered in cream cheese buttercream, then sprinkled with a little cinnamon.  A perfect ending to a perfect Thanksgiving dinner!  Or, rock your world with our Crazy Quake!  Cheesecake filled chocolate cupcake drizzled with chocolate sauce and our homemade caramel sauce then topped off with toasted pecans. 

The shop will be closed Monday October 8 for the Thanksgving holiday.  See you on Tuesday!

I love Autumn!!

I LOVE the fall!!  I love everthing about it…the cool mornings, the warm days, the lovely fall colors, the routine that arrives with the return of school and the smell of newly sharpened pencils!!  My Mom was a school teacher, so preparing for school was an event… shopping for school supplies, new clothes and deciding what extra curricular activities we would be involved in during the school year.  It seemed as though there was almost more hustle and bustle in September than in preparation for Christmas. She was part of the generation of teachers that still received the odd apple or two from adoring students. Crazy Cakes has taken the apple to a new level and chopped that little apple up into chunks, added some caramel cake batter, baked it to perfection and crowned it with a caramel buttercream drizzled with caramel sauce.  Not my Mother’s apple!! 
Not an apple fan?? Try the Cookies and Cream cupcake…Vanilla buttercream topped with Oreo Cookie chunks resting on a vanilla-oreo cookie cake.  Delish!!

Oh My Gosh It’s August!!

Can you believe it?? It’s August already!  The shop has been super busy with wedding cakes and the time has been flying by.  The Cakers prepare all week for the wedding cakes, hand making flowers and other festive decorations fitting for a wedding cake.

Our feature cupcake for July was a raspberry cupcake and raspberry icing and until Marcia Bialobzyski named it Berry White, it was just that, a raspberry cupcake.  Now it can shine in the spotlight…and have you singing Can’t Get Enough of Your Love Babe! 

August Features are all about Soda Pop; Root Beer, Cream Soda, Coke and Orange…Pretty Tasty!!

It’s June and Baby Loves Rhubarb!

Ever wonder how we name our cupcakes???  Well, let me tell you a story about this one.  In the first year we were open, we hired a cake decorator named Meghan.  Meghan was talented and cute to boot.  While working at Crazy Cakes, she met her husband Josh and as life would have it, a baby was soon on the way.  Finding a creative name for rhubarb was a rather daunting task and we were stuck until Meghan tried a bite.  That was it…the baby had found it’s craving and we found our name!!  Baby Loves Rhubarb!

Mi Amigo!!

Jose Cuervo, you are a friend of mine….I like to ‘eat’ you with a little salt and lime.  Everytime we get together we sure have a good time, your my friend your the best, mi amigo.o..o.o.o.o.

As always, in celebration of Cinco de Mayo, our Margarita cupcake is back!  Pull up to the bar and try this shooter in a cupcake wrapper…margarita cupcake doused in tequila and topped with a lime butter cream, then sprinkled with sea salt.  Yee! Haa!!!  Oh, I was so excited about that one, I almost forgot about the strawberry swirl cupcake.  Chocolate or vanilla strawberry (only the real deal) cake crowned with a strawberry buttercream.  If you love strawberries, this is your baby!

Check out Shelly Frizzell singing Jose Cuervo on You Tube.  Pull on your cowboy boots, grab a dancing partner and have a two step to this old party song.  It just might conjure up some old memories…

Another Party!!

We’ll be there, will you?  Come and see us at the Lethbridge and District Exhibition’s Children’s Festival.  It runs from 10:00 til 6:00 tomorrow and guess who else will be attending????  Someone Big and Purple!!!  Yes, Barney will be there in all his glory.  Just follow the voices of screaming children and you will find him!  And if the purple guy doesn’t do it for you, Olivia and Jess will be there too!  But, please don’t forget to come and have a visit at our booth!  We would love to see you!!
